Wizards Cup

A competitive battler card game from Seiji Kanai, the creator of Love Letter.

Once every century, the Wizards’ Cup begins—a grand tournament of magical duels. As ruler of your kingdom, your task is to choose six elite wizards to represent you and decide the order in which they’ll face your rival. After that, all you can do is watch your champions clash and hope your planning pays off.

In Wizards’ Cup, your goal is to build the strongest possible team while predicting how your opponent might counter you. Each player receives a set of 18 cards. Your opponent randomly draws one wizard from your deck—this becomes your first team member. You then select five more wizards, arrange five of the six into a combat deck, and leave the final wizard in the waiting area.

How It Plays

Step into a series of magical one-on-one battles!
Both players reveal the top card of their deck and place their wizards into the duel zone. Then:

  1. Resolve any special abilities.

  2. If the powers don’t decide the outcome, compare elements (Light defeats Shadow, Nature defeats Water, etc.).

  3. If the elements match, compare the cards’ values to determine the winner.

The losing wizard is discarded, and that player draws their next champion to continue the challenge. Duels continue until one player has no wizards left—earning the opponent a victory token.

After each bout, players may refresh their team by swapping one of their six wizards with an unused card, then create a new five-card battle deck.
The first player to earn two victory tokens becomes the champion of the Wizards’ Cup!
